He RaIsed Me Up
On the first day of the week we assembled to break bread. Paul spoke to them, and since he was about to depart the next day, he extended his message until midnight. There were many lamps in the room upstairs where we were assembled, and a young man named Eutychus was siting on a window sill and sank into a deep sleep as Paul kept on speaking. When he was overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third storey and was picked up dead. But Paul went down, fell on him, embraced him, and said, "Don't be alarmed, for his life is in him!" After going upstairs, breaking the bread, and eating, Paul conversed with them a considerable time until down. Then he left. They brought the boy home alive and were greatly comforted. Acts 20:7-12
All in a day's work: preach until dawn, raIse a boy from the dead. This passage is written as if Paul took it all in his stride. Imagine string listening to Paul for over 12 hours, he must have been riveting. This might have been the last time these people would see Paul and he was a treasure to them.
How good is the Holy Spirit! Lives matter! I am sure the family were greatly relieved and that there was one very grateful mother in the house. Today is Mother's Day in Australia. I know today my daughter-in-law would be one such mother. Her youngest Ollie was taken up dead from a pool drowning but God in his mercy gave him back. As his Nan I am sure grateful as well. To see this little man growing up and appreciating every moment that has been given to us. Thank you Lord! Amen!
