Judges are Judged

Now if you call yourself a Jew (Christian-italics mine), and rest in the law, boast in God, know His will, and approved the things that are superior, being instructed from the law, and if you are convinced you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness, an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of the immature, having the full expression of knowledge and truth in the law- you then, who teach another, do you teach yourself? You who preach, "You must not steal"- do you steal? You who say- "You must not commit adultery,"- do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob their temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonour God by breaking the law? For, as it is written: 'The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.' Romans 2:17-24

Many parts of Christendom operate according to the law, that is they do not teach the freedom of Christ. Yet, even in those churches that do teach the freedom of the gospel, there are many bound to pet sins, hidden away from view. For example, there are many porn addicts among those who teach freedom. Many a minister has abused children sexually. How can this be? They have been deceived.

The moment we step up to judge, we are open to judgement, what is done in secret is made plain to the public and we are exposed. The filthy thing about sin is it can lay hidden for a long time and therefore the one operating in it believes they are safe, until .....

The important thing we must recognise is, we need to examine our hearts and keep them open to the Lord and allow Him to convict us by a his Holy Spirit.

We all have pet theories, pet doctrines and can wax eloquently on them, but what does our Lord say? Who are we hurting by our professions, who are we isolating?

If we hear our God when He says: all I want is you to walk humbly before Me and love Me with your heart, soul and mind. If we do this it is very hard to err. Amen!
