Philip the Evangelist

The next day we left and came to Caesarea, where we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him. This man had four virgin daughters who prophesied. Acts 21:8,9

Philip figures several times in the Book of Acts, he was chosen as one of seven men to wait on tables, whilst the apostles waited on God and preached the word. We see Philip evangelising a city in Samaria in Acts 8, performing miracles and setting demoniacs free.

Next we see Philip sent on the road down to Gaza and he ministers to an Ethopians man, a high officer of Queen Candice. The man is born again, baptised in water and Philip disappears and is found in Azotus.

Here we see Philip living in Caesarea and having four virgin daughters, who prophesied. These daughters were single women who were also in the ministry with their dad. Saying they are virgins shows they have not married and stayed single. God does indeed use single people, both men and women. I have several single friends who are missionaries and I am about to go on a missionary trip myself to Nepal. I am praying that God would use me to bring souls to Christ. I love the prophetic and am praying for signs and wonders as well.

Philip played an important role in the early church, even though he was not one of the apostles, yet rather one chosen to serve on tables. God can do amazing things with those who choose to serve. Amen!
