The State of Our Hearts

The Holy Spirit correctly spoke through the prophet Isaiah to your ancestors when He said:
Go to these people and say;
You will listen and listen, yet never understand;
And you will look and look, yet never perceive. For the hearts of these people have grown callous, their ears hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see wi their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and be converted, and I would heal them. Acts 28:26,27

Paul, here, was speaking from Isaiah 6:9-10. Isn't it interesting that we could speak this word today and it would fit. Without a divine outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a renewed awareness of sin and the need for repentance, the hearts of many have grown cold.

What can I do about It? Pray! Intercede! Love and speak. I see people in the church, those I care about living much the same as the world and thinking it is fine. The Jews had strict practices and adherences yet they had relaxed so many laws in the treatment of family, giving and others, they were only keeping the letter of the law and not keeping the spirit of the law.

Going to church will not save us. Jesus himself said that there will be those who said to Him:" but lord Lord we prophesied in your name we cast out demons in your name," and He said He will say to them: "Depart from Me you who practise lawlessness." We need a divine awareness of holiness and Godly truth.

Lawlessness is not just keeping the law for appearances sake. Jesus said that we are murderers in out hearts if we hate our brother. We need a fresh encounter with God and His standards. Amen!
