Predestined for Glory
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose. For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified, and those He justified, He also glorified. Romans 8:28-30
These scriptures tell us that ALL things, both good and bad, work together for our good. Whilst we prefer it all to be good, this is a childish hope. Things happen and when they do God picks them up and uses them to aid in our growth. He makes living things out of dead things, He uses the rubbish to fertilise us, He uses brokenness to graft in others, He uses joy to attract others. He wastes nothing!
The next bit gets exciting- He foreknew me, He predestined me to conform to the image of His Son. Conformation requires change, remoulding, fire, brokenness. Yes, well, maybe not so exciting, but really pivotal on where I am going.
Imagine you have a big, heavy key and you want to open a small lock, it won't work, but if you melted down that key, repoured it and reshaped it, sanded and polished it, that would work. I see many of us as old klunky keys that don't fit, He is remodelling us. Hang in there!
The good bit is, even though we may need remodelling He justifies and glorifies us. We must be still and trust through life's fires. Amen!
