Recipients of Reconcilliation

For while we were still helpless, at the appointed moment, Christ died for the ungodly. For rarely will someone die for a just person-though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us! Much more then since we have been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, we will be saved by His life. And not only that, but also we rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have now received this reconciliation through Him. Romans 5:6-11

I understand being helpless. There are moments in my life when I am unable to steer through life, at those times all I have is trust. Salvation came to me in such a time. I was lost, unable to read my bible, nor understand it. I was stuck in my lostness and aware that I was not close to God- what a miserable place it was.

I understand being in a place of deserving wrath. I collect trash at the local Skate Park. Some of the users of the park toss bottles and wrappers without thought. They do not deserve a lovely clean park, one which I have worked for. Yesterday while bending to collect the trash this was brought home to me, but the greater revelation was- the Father so loved ones such as the trashers, and sent His Son to die for them. The reality of the undeserving nature of the trashers, and the grace of our God who loves the unlovely hit me. Now, I was in such a place- undeserving- yet I escaped wrath and received the precious gift of eternal life.

I am grateful that I knew my need, that sin was revealed to me, that I can walk in freedom only Christ gives, because I know I am unable to save myself. Amen!
