Submission to Authority

Everyone must submit it the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God.mso then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God's command, and those who oppose it will bring judgement on themselves. Romans 13:1,2

This was written when the cruel Romans governed. The Jews that did rebel a few years later, in Jerusalem, did so at a loss of over a million lives and the destruction of the temple, their treasure.

We are told, rather, to pray for our government, our leaders, so that they will govern wisely. This applies in church as well. A split in a church is led by rebels.

What is God's way? Pray and obey. If there is blatant sin in the leadership of the church, then leave and allow God to deal.

In our modern democratic governments we are prone to take people to task through the courts. Does it benefit us? Whenever our fleshly self-righteousness is stirred we believe we are right, but are we?

I have a rule of thumb: am I really right before God? Is my heart clean? If not, repent, if yes pray. Amen!
