The Blessing of Forgiveness
Likewise, David also speaks of the blessing of the man God credits righteousness to apart from works:
How joyful are those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered! How joyful is the man the Lord will never charge with sin. Romans 4:6-8
Paul is referring to Psalm 32:1,2. This is a beautiful Psalm. Verse 3 says: 'when I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long.'
David knew he had sinned but he says in verse 5: 'then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not conceal my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and you took away the guilt of my sin.
When the Lord brought me to the point of salvation I knew I had sinned and desperately wanted to be clean and have a close relationship with him. When I confessed my sin and asked Him in, He came and the liberty I felt was as wide as the sky. My cleanliness was a pure as fresh fallen snow, but, best of all I could see and understand the work He did for me and to know I had found the One I had longed for all my life.
Try it today. You will be so transformed! Amen!
