True Descendants

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Neither are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants. On the contrary, your offspring will be traced through Isaac. That is, it is not the children by physical descent who are God's children, but the children of the promise are considered to be the offspring. For this is the statement of the promise: 'At this time I will come, and Sarah will have a son. And not only that, but also Rebekah received a promise when she became pregnant by one man, our ancestor Isaac. Romans 9:6-10

Paul is here making it plain that the children of Abraham, the true children are those born out of the promise and received by faith. The Jews and the Arabs share a common ancestor in Abraham but Sarah was the chosen to bear the child of promise not Hagar or any of the wives after Sarah's death. Isaac was the son of promise and then through Rebekah only one of her son's, Jacob was chosen.

God is in charge. He sent His chosen Son to redeem humanity. There is no other faith, no other path, no other acceptable sacrifice. His Son Jesus paid the penalty of sin and redeemed us, only He was chosen and only He completed the task.

I, therefore must live out my life in faith in the One who redeemed me. As I do this I am safe for all eternity and nothing and no one can take away what is mine. Amen!
