Welcome Women

Greet Mary, who has worked very hard for you.
Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow countrymen and fellow prisoners. They are noteworthy in the eyes of the apostle's, and they were also in Christ. Romans 16:6,7

Again women are mentioned in Paul's letter. Paul appears to genuinely appreciate women in the ministry and does not appear to have a problem with them being named co-workers. Mary, and Junia and previously Prisca, there is also Tryphaena and Rufus's mother, Julia, Nereus's sister mentioned further along in this chapter.

For a man who was a Pharisee above all Pharisee's Paul has changed. His change has not just been in certain areas of his life but rather all encompassing. From a Jewish culture that belittled and restricted women, Christianity is liberating women.

Jesus began this movement. Women associated with Jesus were welcome and free and treated as equals.

What then has given religion the right to take them back into bondage? As Christianity, true Christianity has liberated, what right has man to bind? I think it is in fallen nature to bind but in God's nature to free. Praise Him!
