An Eternal Crown

Don't you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away. Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified. 1Cor 9:25-27

Having been involved in training for racing I understand discipline. it was only last winter that I was getting up early to train in swimming 2km. However, the greatest discipline I have experienced is that of a child of God. The discipline of my emotions, my attitudes, my thoughts, my words, my actions all come from the discipline of the Lord. His discipline is not harsh, conversely, He leads me to overcome.

Whilst it is good to be involved in earthly races and quests there is only one quest that will last for eternity long. For all my days I want to sing God's praise and know Him. I don't think I be in church forever, or listening to preachers forever. I believe I will have close fellowship with my God forever. I pray there will be lots of adventures in the beautiful universe our God has created, and if not in this one, another one of His design. I don't mind.

Tonight I have fellow astronomers coming over to put together a report to take to Nepal, as I have been invited to talk to a group there. We are committed to building a great facility here in Tamworth. We sacrifice for it and work hard for it but one day it will all disappear. The Spirit world will never disappear and we will become one with it.

It is important that we keep the right thing in focus. Amen!
