He is Still the Same Today

When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony of God to you, I did not come with brilliance, of speech or wisdom. For I did not think it was good to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I came to you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. My speech and proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom but with a powerful demonstration by the Spirit, so that your faith might not be based on men's wisdom but on God's power. 1Cor 2:1-5

I find it hard to believe the Paul I know was in fear and trembling. Yet, considering the amount of times he had been beaten, scourged, stoned and abused for the gospel, it might have been realistic. what is amazing is that he kept going, fueled by the Spirit.

The fact that such a great man had been in fear and trembling, I am encouraged in the times I am also in fear and trembling. How good is God to sustain and strengthen us.

Paul knew that the seekers of signs and wisdom needed the truth of the gospel and the power therein. In this day when arrogance is rampant and self-interest at its peak, it is good to know that the quiet gospel still has the same power it has always had. Jesus is just as real today as He was in Paul's day. I must trust Him and be available to Him. Amen!

The truth of the gospel still cuts though all worldly wisdom and all the evil opposition of the enemy. Amen!
