Waiting on God
A wife (woman) is bound as long as her husband is living, but if her husband dies, she is free to be married to anyone she wants- only in the Lord. But she is happier if she remains as she is, in my opinion. And I think that I have the Spirit of God. 1 Cor 7:39,40
There are two keys in the scriptural passage: Not marrying until the previous husband is dead; if she should marry to marry a Christian.
I can hear the uproar. I want to remarry. My husband treated me bad and I deserve happiness. I know, I am a divorcee and my husband wanted another woman. I left because of abusive behaviour but my husband wanted another wife. Therefore, I wanted another husband. However the intervening time has made me very careful and the longer the time the more I enjoy my space and relationship with the Lord.
We truly must wait on God and allow Him to be Lord. It is our carnal nature that wants another flesh relationship, but we must sort ourselves out or we will repeat our folly and it becomes more devastating each time.
If a husband has committed adultery yes the wife is free to remarry but if she fails to recover properly form the previous failure, she will not have learned what she is doing wrong, because she is making wrong choices, blind choices, being attracted to the same type of problem, the same cage.
This applies to men as well. We must look within and learn. What is making me behave this way, why do I respond this way? Having high emotions may make you feel you will do better, but you won't, well rarely will you choose right the next time. Very rarely! The statistics tell us I am right.
Love yourself enough to not give yourself what your flesh wants but wait and allow God to heal you and show you a better way.
