Good Friends Confront
Better an open reprimand than concealed love. The wounds of a friend are trustworthy, but the kisses of an enemy are excessive.
Proverbs 27:5-6 HCSB
Living without confrontation might feel safe but in reality it is a death zone, nothing worthwhile lives there.
Love confronts, it does not hide. Reprimanding a friend in love takes maturity. Leaving a matter to the last moment allows anger to fester and explode. It is better to deal with a matter sooner than later.
An enemy's kisses are excessive because they lack substance and are false. An enemy seeks to use up the life within you and not pay. An enemy is unfaithful and tells lies.
We need to be truthful to ourselves as to what we want out of friends and then release them to be exactly that. Amen!
