Knowing Where I Belong


I will praise You with a sincere heart when I learn Your righteous judgments.
Psalms 119:7 HCSB

In Psalm 119:1-8 we see the first Psalmist seeking a pure heart. He says: "if only my ways were committed tti keeping your statutes."

I can honestly say i am not conscious of trying to keep God's ways but rather i seek Him, He keeps me right. Without relationship we are condemned to effort, trying to be right, but in relationship we are in peace because we seek Him continually, out of love and desire and not effort.

This results in peace: we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus told us He was the way, the truth and the Life, and He is! When i am not struggling to be good, to be right, I am. Amen!

If we insist on being 'right' we are in for a struggle, a never-ending struggle. Before i asked Christ into my life this is where I was. I was 'in sin.' Now, it even blind Freddy could tell you the smart solution- accept Christ as Lord and Saviour. This is the only place of peace. Amen!

I am home from my trip to Nepal and can honestly say: I like my soft bed and clean bathroom and freedom from chillies. I know where i belong. Likewise i know i belong in Christ. In Him is life, peace and goodness, nowhere else.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
