You are my Future

Lord , You are my portion and my cup of blessing; You hold my future. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
Psalms 16:5‭-‬6 HCSB

In Numbers 18:20 and Deut 10:9 The Lord tells Aaron that he would not have land inheritance in the Promised Land, but rather that He Himself would be his inheritance. David was of the tribe of Judah, yet here he is saying God, You are my inheritance. David is saying: " above all else I value You Lord, You are what I want!" These words would have been what the Lord would have wanted to hear from Aaron and didn't.

Today we.see many displaced people, many refugees, many who will never see their homeland again. Yet, for the Christian, their heritage is greater. Divorce robs people of family and home but God is greater. We can sit and mourn our loss and live in grief of all that is lost or get up and make our God our portion. Our God is greater than the robber and we must give Him room to show Himself strong on our behalf.

Our God is more important than things, than family and friends. We spend eternity with Him not our stuff or relations.

David spent so many years on the run from Saul, he knew what was important. His God sustained him. When he became king his priorities were in the right place. Although riches suddebly became his, he ammassed his weath to build the temple for his God. We need to make the Main thing, the main thing and stop fretting over trivia. Amen!
