A Saviour is Coming


She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus,because He will save His people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:21 HCSB

This scripture was a part of the word spoken to Joseph in a dream. Joseph had just found out Mary, his betrothed was pregnant. He was considering divorcing her quietly so that she would not be stoned for adultery. Now, he is being told that the illegitimate child is the Son of God. I imagine this would be hard for a man to take. His virgin bride was soiled by God and not another man.

Joseph did marry Mary and honoured the child within her by not having sexual relations with her, until after Jesus was born. If God impregnated Mary, she was His until she bore His Son. What a righteous man!

God spoke to Joseph in dreams. He was to take his new family to Egypt on God's command, as Herod was seeking to kill Him. Even as a little, defenseless child, Satan used a jealous king to try and kill Him. However, God was a good Father and worked with Joseph, Jesus earthly father, to keep Him safe and raise Him well.

Again we see Immanuel. Yesterday He was mentioned in Isaiah, now He is spoken of in Matthew. The day of His coming was drawing near, and we are glad. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
