Sound Financial Wisdom

Send your bread on the surface of the waters, for after many days you may find it. Give a portion to seven or even to eight, for you don’t know what disaster may happen on earth. If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain on the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or the north, the place where the tree falls, there it will lie. One who watches the wind will not sow, and the one who looks at the clouds will not reap. Just as you don’t know the path of the wind, or how bones develop in the womb of a pregnant woman, so you don’t know the work of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your seed, and at evening do not let your hand rest, because you don’t know which will succeed, whether one or the other, or if both of them will be equally good.
Ecclesiastes 11:1‭-‬6 HCSB

Do you want sound financial advice? Then here it is. These verses are to.do with sound financial investments, not giving. In a modern diversified portfolio in Australia there are 6 to 8 catgories: cash; Australian fixed interest; international fixed interest; Australian shares; International shares; property; infrastructure and other. Whist there are many more such as gold amd precious metal, diamonds etc you get the idea.

Investing only in property is something a lot of Australians do. They love property. However, as they age they tend to move into cash amd teem deposits and currently they are the lowest they have been in a long while.

If, however, the above two diversified, thry would have fared better.

The one who watches the wind will not invest. Our news media is full of gloom and anxiety about the markets. Knowing when to sell and asset is a challenge as well. However, if we are looking at the clouds we will not reap, or sell.

Anxiety, fear and greed are rampant in the investment market. We must start somewhere. Amen! We must begin the save. Amen!
