The Door
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 HCSB
This statement by Jesus is in response to a request by Thomas to see the Father. It is only fitting that a Thomas like person should receive the word from Jesus. For all the doubters about Jesus'relevance and importance, here it is. If Jesus said it no other man made it up or added it. Thr apostle a John, who wrote the gospel was closest to Jesus and faithfully reported all he saw and heard.
If we accept that there is no other way, peace comes. All self-effort, all mysticism, all need to placate odd deities through fear, is gone. What freedom!
Try Him, you will not leave when you find Him, not just a knowledge about Him, but actually find Him. He is good! He is faithful! He is a friend like none other. He is exceptuonally wonderful! He is peace, He is joy! Amen!
To come into my house you need a key or me to open the door for you. Elsewhere Jesus also says He is the door. On the other side of the door is eternity and the Father. I will not let you into my house unless I know you. You could say Jesus being God would know you. However He is also relational and wants a relationship with you. I am relational. If you are my friend you can come in, if not we will talk on the doorstep. What do you want? You will not meet the Father without first starting a relationship with the Son.
He I'd the Way. He is the truth. There is no other truth. You cannot invent your own truth and come in. He is the life. There is no other source of eternal life. This statement cannot be refuted and you see the Father or enter heaven. You choose! Life or death!
