What Peace?

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.
John 14:27 HCSB

Jesus had been telling the disciples about His betrayal and that He was going away where they could not go, right now. It would have been troubling. Because we know the final story of the gospels we fail to fully appreciate their fear. Yet, here we are and God's word tells us He is with us and not to fear. We are even told what the end of the world looks like, yet we fear the outcomes in our own life because we see the problem and not Him. We have to see Him.

His peace is more valuable than anything we know. His peace carries us through many a battle, past screaming demons, past hate, malice, anger and resentment. His peace is found in His love for us. I am wrapped in His love and protection. His peace is a prize worth seeking. His peace never leaves. We might go back to fear but He is constantly there with His peace and protection.

No amount of mind numbing mantras give His depth of peace, it is eternal. I am not responsible for creating it, I freely walk into it. All I have to do is go to Him. Amen!
