God in Our Midst


Yahweh your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy.”
Zephaniah 3:17 HCSB

Having God among us is so comforting. How is He among us? As a New Testament believer I have His Holy Spirit residing in me. When I gather with other believers I have a sense of a communal Christ. He Himself said: "Where two or three gather together, there am I."
(Matthew 18:20)

Yet He is more than presence, He is a warrior to save. He fights for us, He rejoices over us, we make Him happy. His love is there for us and as we experience His love we are at peace. Amen.

I am quietly excited. Mainly because it is very early and I am the only one awake. Last night a lovely lady gave me a massage and asked me to teach her to sew. She had seen me making dolls clothes. She then told me her hearts desire, a sewing machine. I asked how much and she said 15,000 rupees. That is around $182.00. I can afford that.

This morning I am lying awake thinking about other potential areas of enterprise in this community. They are beginning to do coffee shops. What about muffins? Let's make them fat! (No seriously they eat a lot anyway and are not fat). Next what about bread machines. Bread is only just here and it is sweet rubbish. Why not teach them good bread?

My experience in all the villages I have been to is: the women are the thinkers and doers. The men are more prone to corruption and bribery. I think my call is to women. I love them and want to empower them.

Today I will meet with a very special lady Uma from United Vision. She has a similar heart for women. I want to work with her. Let's see what God can do. Amen! Girls need a warrior in their midst.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
