Silence the Ignorant
For it is God’s will that you silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good. As God’s slaves, live as free people, but don’t use your freedom as a way to conceal evil.
1 Peter 2:15-16 HCSB
The whole of this chapter is an exhortation to come to Jesus, the living stone and live His way, ridding ourselves of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and all slander. (Verse1)
Yesterday I wrote of a difficulty I had been having with my elderly mother. I solved it by having a good conversation over breakfast. Rather than carry resentment all day yesterday a simple conversation melted all barriers. We went off for the day and enjoyed one another's company.
In verse 11 we are urged to abstain from all freshly desires that war against us. I woke in the night to an attack of the enemy. I had to remember my weapon: 'they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.' (Rev
12:11). I started to use scripture: ' No weapon formed against me shall prosper.'(Is 54:17)
Confession of scripture and making it my own makes it my weapon. Amen! So often I forget to use what I have been given. Seek God for your scripture and use when the enemy comes against you. You will win!
