Delight
Take delight in the Lord , and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the Lord ; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, psalm 37:4-6
The whole of Psalm 37 compares the heart of the lover of God to the man who has no time for Him. One who delights in the Lord is one whose sensor is set for God. Without knowing it we can be tuned for what is wrong instead of God. Our antanea needs re-tuning; our mind needs refocusing to thinking about our world like He does; our senses need to be tuned into His presence.
I have some young church friends who recently had a new baby. As I look on their little son I remember. I delighted in my babies. I was besotted. My whole being was tuned into their presence; their voice; their needs; their delights. What delighted them delighted me. This gives me a benchmark for delight. In summary I would say I was tuned in!
I have been reading a little book by Jean Rodden on called: 'Life on the roof'. This small book was the story of the beginning of INF in Nepal. She was one of the first missionaries in Nepal. This woman's heart was constantly delighting in the Lord and seeing Him be her God in Nepal. I see her delight and as I do I sense God's love and presence in her delight.
Delighting God is more than a religious exercise. It carries many benefits: it attracts the presence of God. Yesterday I received a very officious email from a manager, I had dared to complain about His behaviour and the behaviour of AMP raiding my commission. He had brought in the heavies (I could see their names Cc'd in). In my reply I cc'd them in. I was facing Goliath and told them that the time had come for change and that I had reported them to the ACCC (a government body), ACCC had written back and told me to take AMP to court. I told them this. Now, in myself I am nobody, but if God be for me, who can be against me? In all this I was not worried but at peace. My biggest concern was: am I behaving like a child of God?
My work is more enjoyable as I delight in Him, my pleasure is to serve my clients, love them and give them my best. As I do this I am delighting in Him. He is the master in service and love. I can trust Him and His ways. Amen!
