Wanderer
I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands.
Psalms 119:10 HCSB
For the Old Testament believer, wandering was a lot easier. They did not have the indwelling spirit of the Holy Spirit. They had to really seek God. The New Testament believer has the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide and direct, that is, if we are listening.
Why do we wander? We wander because we feed our flesh and our old nature loves to be God. We avoid wandering by living in, abiding in the vine, abiding in Christ. If we feed our spirit life, it longs for more of God. If we feed our flesh life we wander by the stalls of sinful pursuits.
Jesus taught us in John 15, if we abide in Him, He will abide in us. Sounds like a good union to me. What do you think? Jesus gives us a promise for abiding in Him- we produce much fruit. Apart from Him we cannot produce fruit.
He goes on in John 15:7
If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be My disciples.
Sounds good to me. Let's go!
