Seek Me

For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the Lord ’s declaration — “plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you” — this is the Lord ’s declaration — “and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and places where I banished you” — this is the Lord ’s declaration. “I will restore you to the place I deported you from.”
Jeremiah 29:11‭-‬14 HCSB

The above scripture is a popular one. However, do you know what it is all about in the original full chapter in Jeremiah? The above is a part of a letter Jeremiah sent to the people taken to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. He had told them to build houses, marry and give in marriage as they would be there for 70 years. He also told them not not listen to false prophets who would tell them they would not be staying, as they were.

Even so God was calling His people to seek Him with their whole hearts. They may not be inclined to do this as He had removed them from their homes and all they held dear. He was also telling them, ' You are not coming back for 70 years, even if you do seek Me.

We cannot manipulate God. HE is God and there is no other. He is in charge. We have to go through certain things: some are our own fault; some through no fault of our own. Feeling sorry for ourselves and turning away from God will only make it worse. He promises to be with us in all we go through.

Having God's presence makes everthing better, having His heart and mind makes all things new. Wherever you are and whatever you are going through, seek Him and let Him flood the room. Amen!
