He is Able to Save

Therefore, He is always able to save those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.
Hebrews 7:25 HCSB

The fact that Jesus, having done the work of the cross is not sitting back and leaving our walk to us alone is comforting. Jesus is our High Priest who makes intercession for us. I am comforted that in my life my Jesus is still praying for me.

This fact beggars believing. How fantastic is this! The whole of this chapter in Hebrews is like an exegetical interpretation of the nature of Melchizedek, the eternal high priest whom Abraham met on his return from a war and whom he gave a tenth of his spoils to, and who also appears to be Christ making a visit to men.

As Melchizedek was a far superior High priest, Jesus is a far superior priest as not only did He give His life as a ransom for us, He sits making intercession for us. What other earthly priest has done this for us? None perfect and without sin.

We can trust Him. He said to the thief on the cross, who had believed in Him,: "Today you will be with me in paradise!" The Thief had done nothing right, could not earn his salvation and so was the first convert into Christianity. What a choice of subject! Yet because a thief was the first to be made right we can rejoice in hope: all are welcome in. The price is believing on Him not a righteous life. Amen!
