Freedom Indeed!

I write this, dear children, to guide you out of sin. But if anyone does sin, we have a Priest-Friend in the presence of the Father: Jesus Christ, righteous Jesus. When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good—not only ours, but the whole world’s. Here’s how we can be sure that we know God in the right way: Keep his commandments.
1 John 2:1‭-‬2 MSG

The apostle John is in His 90s when he writes his version of the gospel of John and the subsequent epistles. He may even be in exile on Patmos by this time. When you are alone in exile what can you do but write?

I have a dear friend who recently turned 90. I imagine John's reference to us, His readers, as little children, comes from the many years of serving and loving Christ.

John was the disciple who loved most and was closest to Jesus. What better man to tell it like it is. In chapter 1 John tells us: if we believe we have no sin we deceive ourselves.

Therefore, accepting that we do sin, let us come boldly knowing forgiveness is ours through Christ. He is the Way! If He chooses to forgives us our wrongdoing then we are indeed forgiven and we can accept this free gift that cleanses us from all guilt. Amen!

What better way than His day to find this forgiveness! Amen!
