Think on these things

Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable — if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise — dwell on these things.
Philippians 4:8

Dwelling on things! Be honest and say what you dwell on most. The negatives push forward and attempt to dominate: negatives about self; negatives about others.

If we allow these negatives to dominate we become obsessed with ourselves and others. This is definitely not clean, good or lovely.

What then is good, clean and lovely? If I am bombarded with negative thoughts about others I sense a heaviness in my mind and determine to rid myself of it. I pray mercy and grace on that 'other.' Before long the heaviness lifts. It is similar if it is shame or guilt thoughts about me. I start to speak scripture over myself: 'I am the righteousness of God in Christ!' The negatives leave.

The big challenge is when you have done something wrong and the thoughts demand a right to be there. Repentance is a good start then confession of scripture:

The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.
Proverbs 28:13

We do not have to submit to darkness but can use the weapons given to overcome. amen!
