Ask For What You Need
“Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?
Matthew 7:7-11 MSG
This morning I awoke feeling a bit lost about a project I am working on but thought to ask God what He thought. I received the above scripture, in another version. I reasoned it would be cool to bring it again in the message version.
Today I had a client come and he was down. I gave him the scripture as he was inclined to give up. I reminded him why we were doing what we were doing, it was for the little people, the downtrodden, the lost. We prayed and he gained new hope. Not 30 minutes later he called to say things were moving for him and that was a quick answer to prayer.
Meanwhile I had a call from my manager telling me I would receive a 'please explain as to why we should not terminate you' letter. Yes, the arrogant 'big business'. Fortunately my God is in control and my hope is in Him. I really do not care what mankind says. I care what my God says.
However, I ended the day with passing an exam and giving hope to a client. Hope is more important than big business. HA!
