The Crucible

A crucible for silver, and a smelter for gold, and the Lord is the tester of hearts.

A smelter is for precious metals. The metal is subjected to intense heat and all the impurities rise and can be scraped off.

We are precious metals to our God. When we are under intense pressure, under heat, our impure reactions and actions become know to us and others, God already knows them. This can lead to repentance, forgiveness and healing. Moving forward we can choose a new path.

David, the psalmist, prayed: purify my heart Lord. He knew he needed to be clean before God. I believe the greatest gift God can give us, after His Son, of course, is an awareness of sin.

Refusing to acknowledge sin and fighting to BE right, can cause us to miss the mark and further follow the path of sin.

Better to know I need purifying than to fight it. Yield! Amen!
