Principles Make Room

I love you, God — you make me strong. God is bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight. My God—the high crag where I run for dear life, hiding behind the boulders, safe in the granite hideout.
Psalm 18:1‭-‬2 MSG

Tonight we had a grand final in one of our football leagues in Australia. My favourite team was up against another favored team in the big clash in Sydney. Over 70,000 people went to the match and the rest of us watched it online or on TV.

The favored player from my team was up on charges for a shoulder tackle during the week. Many thought he should have been banned from playing which was to be his final match. In hindsight this would have been the best move. For tonight the team was thrashed by superior playing and it was not worth this player being allowed to play if indeed he did do wrong.

The opposition had a wounded favored player who everyone thought would not play because of a shoulder injury. Yet he played and managed the team as captain. He was hurt again and could not lift his shoulder. He won favour for his team and led them to victory.

As a Christian I watched principles behind the scene win. I know who will be remembered and who will be the hero. I know who will be able to live with himself and who will wish he had done better.

In my life as a follower of Christ I constantly evaluate myself. I am there again. I long for greater insight and understanding. I need to know the way I should go, then I can come to the rock for safety and know He has it! Amen!
