Stay Aware

I, Yahweh, examine the mind, I test the heart to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve. Jeremiah 17:10 HCSB

God is more interested in motive. If we do good do we want to be seen by others? If we do evil do we hide it? God is more interested in what is going on in the heart.

Jesus taught us that we reap what we sow. Although we are not under law anymore certain principles remain. If I sow, I reap. However, God is still interested in heart motive and will uncover it for us so that we can deal with it and grow into the likeness of His Son.

If God is interested in heart motive so should we, our own that is. I know we like to judge others but we should take time to be aware of motives. Jesus said: it is what comes out of the heart of man that defiles him not what he eats.

I saw this in my own life yesterday. A new type of clothing is being worn by people we know and on some it is becoming and on others not so. My mum and I were discussing this on the way home from church. I saw my heart and shut up. My comments about others were made making me look superior. Pride! Smack! I am not so clever and have just as many uglies. I am sure I just dont see them (for example- bike pants).

Being aware is half the battle. Repenting and moving on is the other. Stay aware!
