Search For Truth

The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity. 2 Corinthians 10:3‭-‬6 MSG

Even in Christendom we encounter strange doctrines. The new Testament church had them and unfortunately the modern church has them. On Sunday I encountered one. I was appalled! I knew the preacher but he presented his view on hell, which to all accounts of orthodox doctrine was error. He appeared to not believe in an eternal hell.

I am reminded that many in America do not but here in Australia I assumed (wrongly) we still do. Fortunately I belong to a connect group that has a strong desire to search the scriptures and tonight we did. I came away firmly convinced, as I always had, that there is indeed and eternal hell to avoid and a heaven to gain.

We must never accept, on face value, a strange, new teaching but must then go to the scriptures and find the truth. A desire for truth must always guide us. We cant be waylaid by fleshly desires to have it otherwise.
