How Do I Pray?
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Matthew 6:7 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.6.7.NLT
The very next verse is the Lord's prayer which some have taken on as a rambling prayer. This was not how Jesus meant us to pray.
The Lord's Prayer shows the relationship: Our Father;
It shows honour: who lives in heaven, hallowed be Your name;
In shows purpose: Your kingdom come, you will be done;
It shows asking for provision:
give us this day, our daily bread;
It shows forgiveness: forgive us our sins as we forgive others;
It asks for divine protection: deliver us from evil.
These are things we can pray for, but this prayer is not a tool or a penitential prayer, but as an idea on what our relationship should be like: child of God, Valliant warrior of the Kingdom; a forgiven child who also knows how to forgive; a blessed child filled with abundance; a protected child.
I can come to my Father in prayer and trust He hears me. Amen!
