Love One Another

I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. 2 John 1:5‭-‬6 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/2jn.1.5-6.NLT

This command to love one another comes in a chapter warning about false teaching. It is interesting that the two should be linked. If I love you I will challenge an error that I see or hear. Confrontation in love saves us from errors.

When my grandson calls and he runs off on the wrong tangent I tell him in love. If I can do this for my grandson, I can do it for my friends.

Errors can bind us up, they slip in sneakily. We can easily become offended or marginalised and when there pick up wrong thinking or strange doctrine. The strange doctrine circulating in the church in John's day was that Jesus did not come in the flesh.

John was the right person to correct this error as he was with Christ.

Yesterday I saw a post on a friend's Facebook page and it didn't resonate with who they were in the church. I messaged them privately and found that they had not posted such an article, in other words, false people, pretending to be her had duplicated her profile.

False teachers duplicate the truth and change it to reflect their ideas. We should not be caught up in this. We should discern the truth and speak the truth. Amen!
