Sharpening

You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 MSG https://bible.com/bible/97/pro.27.17.MSG

You may have heard: he was sharp as a tack! This means the person's mental acuity was bright and clear and he was able to think and discern accurately.

Isn't it interesting that friends can sharpen us. This is why I believe Connect groups at church are important. Here you have an opportunity to make good friends and challenge one another's thinking.

I remember being in a group one night discussing abortion and how as Christians we oppose it when one of the men said that if his daughter was raped he would not oppose her having an abortion. The man leading the group said: "well I would disagree with you as there is no justification for abortion." This would have made the first man reevaluate his stance. Without such confrontations, we are left believing we are right.

Friendly confrontation is always a blessing. We may not like it but it is good for us. Amen!
