Clothing
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3:12 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/col.3.12.NLT
Tenderhearted mercy, what does that look like? First, what is a tender heart? I think of a little child when I think of this word, open receptive, no malice. A heart tender to the Lord is His desire. Then, to show mercy. I think of Jesus on the cross: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do!" Jesus could have come down from the cross, called a legion of angels to wipe out His foes but He stayed and endured the horror for those who did not deserve mercy.
Kindness, humility, gentleness do not rant and rave or go to war. They love those who persecute them. How foreign these attributes are to the flesh.
What can I learn in a time of persecution? A closer walk with my God, a fresh place, a deeper trust and understanding and a cleansing from all deserving accusations. There is always something I can learn. Amen!
