Results of Humility

True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honour, and long life.

It is hard to imagine a humble person being blessed, we are used to seeing the go-getters and takers with everything. However, if we look in the Bible for humble people we find one that stands out: Moses. 

Moses was raised in Pharoah's house. He didn't start out humble. He tried to help his people and ended up killing an Egyptian and he ran away. He stayed in the backside of the desert for 40 years learning a better way then the next 40 taking care of God's people in the desert. By being humble he was elevated to leader over a few million people.

The richness Moses had to start with was not the richness he had at the end. One was earthly wealth and the other was heavenly. He spoke to God's face to face. Miracles were provided through Moses to the people.

If all we want is earthly wealth we short-changed ourselves when there is more, a closeness with God. A man or woman of God shines with His presence, you know they have something special and it makes them attractive. This is true riches. This brings them honour and long life. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
