Self-Confidence

Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise, you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. James 4:13‭-‬17 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/jas.4.13-17.NLT

Modern man is taught to make plans and it is good to plan but we must submit those plans to the Lord. The older I get the more I realise the truth of this scripture. I do not really know the future, God does. I must allow Him to direct my paths.

This year I have found myself studying English and creative writing. It is amazing. The enjoyment I am having amazes me. I would never have thought studying these two disciplines would be in God's mind for me.

Imagine if I had said: "No!" To the Lord. The joy I would have missed out on. I am continually experiencing explosions of joy in my spirit.  Literally explosions of joy! I am amazed. However, God knew. He knows what He wired me like. Bless Him, He is good.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. Find joy in obedience. Amen!
