Saved From Sin

And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:21 NLT

Being saved from their sin would be new to the people who heard this word. They lived with the knowledge of sin and the consequently sacrificed animals. To have God come and save from sin, this was different.

When Jesus began preaching He called Himself the lamb of God. Why was He a lamb? He was to become the lamb slain for our sin, the perfect sacrifice, a sinless life given for all.

The prospect of having a sinless man was so unusual, but Jesus was He.

This Christmas let us be glad that Christmas is not just about getting things and experiences we will throw away. Receiving Jesus into our hearts is eternal. Knowing a clean heart is amazingly refreshing. Try it!
