The Lord Shall Give a Sign

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Has the Lord wvee told you He would give you a sign? Perhaps He did give the sign and it registered in your heart. I know the Holy Spirit whispers in my spirit and it is so quiet that at times I don't pay attention and realise later I should have. For example, yesterday I was putting on a load of washing and the word 'tissue' came to mind along with the image of a back pocket. I almost disregarded it but suddenly decided to trust. Sure enough there was a tissue in the back pocket of a pair of shorts. Had I not listened I would have had a mess all over my clothes.

This is an example of how the Holy Spirit is involved in my life and cares to prompt me. His prompts range in significance. I need to respond to all of them if I am to be trusted with greater messages, such as healing or words of knowledge or wisdom, discernment etc.

Yet, here the Lord gave a sign about His Son and most disregarded it. Why? It didn't happen as they expected. It did not conform to their understanding.

Don't lose valuable opportunities. Listen to the quiet still voice. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
