Blessed Through Trust
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.

Last night I watched a movie called The Shack. It had an interesting take on the Trinity members. The story wound around a lost soul called Mack. He had miles of hurt in him from his childhood. An abusive father left his mark, then he lost a daughter to a murderer and he was angry with God. Although raised in the church and attending church as an adult he was far from God.
Relationship with God and others hinges on forgiveness. Mack had to learn to give up the right to be a judge, forgive and be forgiven. Forgiveness is integral to our lives.
Judgement belongs to God. When we choose to take the role from Him we become angry and bitter. We are meant to trust. Trust is hard when a small child is taken by an evil and abusive man, however as Mack found out, God loves that man also and desires his repentance.
We cannot imagine those who do evil deserving forgiveness. Yet we do not understand the love of God. To help Mack understand God's love Mack was forced to choose which of his two remaining children should go to hell. He refused and offered himself as a substitute. In this act we saw what Christ did. We also saw the love of God.
Blessed are those who trust the Lord, especially through pain. Amen!
