Temptation

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape so that you are able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 HCSB

What things tempt you? Sex, money, power, alcohol, food, offense, anger, self-pity? Temptation has a foothold when we sympathize with ourselves in an area and make up stories about why we should do what we should not do. If we can deal with the lies to ourselves, we are part-way there.

God has given us tool: we are told the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty though God for the pulling down of strongholds.(2 Cor 10:4-5)  The enemy of our soul attempts to erect strongholds in our lives where he can place his evil spirits to hamper us, usually in our thinking. We are fortress for only one spirit and that is the Holy Spirit. Nothing else can be permitted to stay.

The Holy Spirit gives us strength and tools (Galatians 6:11). Put on the amour of God. Know the word of God, stand in your salvation from the things of this world, understand the way you have been made right with God, believe  the truth of the Gospel. Get with good people and have good fellowship, ask for help and go share your victory with someone else.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
