Like Little Children

Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.  So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.
Matthew 18:3‭-‬5 NLT

I am surrounded by little children. On the left are my young neices and on the right a little boy. Across the road are children, my nephews and niece. The little ones on the left are particularly lovely and small. The youngest, ever since she could respond, would put her arms out to me to be held by me. This is an action I would expect from a child to her mother but I, her aunt, was always honoured this way. She is now mobile and toddles around.

As we are in isolation it is hard for this little one not to continue to show affection to me and also her grandmother across the street. I realise this is a hard time for the little ones. Her older sister cautiously came near to show me her catipillar in a plastic bowel on Sunday. She is used to visiting and cooking with her aunt.

These two little girls are having to trust their mum and dad and stay away from adults they love. They are having to grow in trust in a season that makes them do what is foreign to them.

May we trust our God in this season when we are having to behaviour in a foreign way: trust Him to bring us through the dark valley. Amen
