The Power of Prayer
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?
Psalms 56:3-4 NLT
David wrote this psalm when he was seized by the Philistines in Gath. The whole psalm is very applicable to those hounded in social media and those vilified by the news reports.
I am gratified that in Australia our Prime Minister has gained a reprieve because he has bravely and boldly administered in the times of Covid19. His counterparts in the US and Britian are not doing so well. It must be a very difficult time for them.
Prior to the Covid19 outbreak the news media hounded our PM mercilessly. He administered through a severe drought and then bush fires that ravaged thousands of acres of forest, killed many amd burned down houses, not to mention destroying thousands of wild animals. Yet all the PM did was not good enough, for some. Nasty, critical voices railed against him. Praise God the voices are silent, for now.
My PM and the government I pray for daily, interceeding for wisdom and insight in the management of the crisis. As we face rebuilding the economy my prayer is for wisdom into the future. We must be better than we have been with our local manufacturing and trading partners.
My prayer us for my country that it will know my God more than ever before. My prayer for the world is it will respond to the person of Jesus Christ. I pray for leaders that they will be confronted with the power of Christ. Amen
