lay it down

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13 NLT

I hear a song in my memory:
Lay down, lay down, let it all down
Let your white birds smile up at the ones who stand and frown
Lay down, lay down, let it all down
Let your white birds smile up at the ones who stand and frown

We are called to lay down our own likes and dislikes for others. There's that word again: others.

Laying down the desire for love and relationship is big for me, and yet again, and again I am asked to lay it down. Perhaps this is my cross, my sacrifice. Instead I must go, and look for those who need to be loved.

There are many unloved, uncared for. Whilesoever I have the capacity I must love others: the lost, the lonely and the undeserving. Amen!
