let her works praise her

Give her the reward of her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates.
Proverbs 31:31 HCSB

Let her work praise her! What an interesting thought. Whilst my desire is to have the Lord praise me at the end of my days, to consider my works praising me now is different.

How can my works praise me? Well, Proverbs 31 tells us that the children of this woman rise up and praise her. Ok, so my children can praise me, but how do my works praise me at the gates?

The gates of the city used to be where people met and decisions were made. So, perhaps like social media perhaps. Today I posted a poem I had written for my mum who recently passed away. In it I praised her for her valor and strength in sickness. Later Facebook reminded me of a post I had done in 2015. It was about my mum's sense of humor. I reposted it. It reminded all who knew her of her witty sense of humor and I hoped it would bless my siblings who were hurting.

So, I suppose the world is watching how we behave and remembers. Remember this!
