a holy life

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.
Hebrews 12:14‭-‬15 NLT

Holy means set apart. A holy person does not belong to worldly ways and appetites. Being holy menas allowing Jesus in the driver's seat. If He is driving He goes the narrow way that leads to life. This road is inconvenient and not comfortable.

A holy heart seeks God's ways first, not as an after thought or a tag on an existing selfish agenda. It asks, "Where is Jesus going?" If does not tell Him where He should be going.

Today, i am watching people desperate to have their own enjoyment at the cost of others. The city of Melbourne in Australia is in lock down, yet the schools are on holidays. In a last ditch attempt to escape Melboure people are fleeing to regional Victoria and potentially taking the disease with them. This is not loving or considerate but selfish. A selfish heart is not interested in being holy.

Be holy!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
