enabled to love
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39 NLT
When we read the gospels we see times when the disciples themselves had difficulty loving others. At one time they wanted to call down fire from heaven on a village, another time they became annoyed at the mothers bringing their children to Jesus. They constantly fought over who was the greatest, even asking for positions of honour on eirher side of Jesus in heaven.
I have yet to find where Jesus called them selfish fools, he called them foolish of heart for lack of faith, however, He did not condemn them for their naivety, lusting for power or wanting to judge. Yes He did correct them but grace coutinually poured out of Him. The Pharisees drew His ire because they claimed to be wise teachers and yet refused to accept Him.
Likewise I am sure the command to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind was unachievable without the Holy Spirit.
The transformation from a rabble to an annointed team was miraculous. Only God could do that. Only God transforms hearts and minds. Stick with Him, He will change you!
