my neighbour
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39 NLT
How do I love beyond myself? Choosing! Intentional! I would say willfull, but unfortunately that word has a bad connotation. Heart, soul and mind says it better.
My car does not go anywhere in park. As I put it into gear it moves, even without acceleration, as it is an automatic. My heart, once in gear might need a little acceleration, depending on how long it has been parked and where it has been parked. If it has been parked at self-indulgence, it takes acceleration to move it. Self-indulgence is very stubborn.
Choosing to love God passionately first makes my heart His. He loves others. So when my heart is His, I will love others. The more I love Him, the more I love others. Simple!
